DHEMAJI, March 2 -- As soon as the dates of the three-phase Assembly election were declared, members of the ruling BJP, opposition Congress and other political parties have stepped up their political activities in 113 Dhemaji (ST) and 114 Jonai (ST) Assembly constituencies under Dhemaji district.
District Congress Committee (DCC) sources said that many new faces are emerging as MLA contenders for the two Assembly seats.
Among them, retired Project Director of Panchayat and Rural Development Department Naren Pao, youth leader Sailen Sonowal, Babul Sonowal, former Dhemaji Zila Parishad Chairman Jyotiprova Pegu and Bhaben Narah are in the ticket race for the Dhemaji seat.
