GUWAHATI, July 12 -- Amid the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, the writers' community from Assam has written a letter to Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, demanding proper medical treatment of Akhil Gogoi and his companions, and release of all political prisoners of the anti-CAA movement across the country, stated a press release.

Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) leader Akhil Gogoi and his three colleagues Dhoirjya Konwar, Bitu Sonowal and Manash Konwar are currently imprisoned for their protest against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act. Assam girl Debangana Kalita is also imprisoned in New Delhi for raising her voice against CAA.

In solidarity with the imprisoned leaders, more than 100 writers from Assam have endorsed the letter. T...
