HAILAKANDI, Oct. 16 -- The leader of the Opposition of the State Assembly, Debabrata Saikia has urged the district administration to take initiative to usher in peace among the villagers in violence-hit Nitainagar of Hailakandi district in south Assam.

Saikia on Tuesday visited the entire Laskarbazar area of Nitainagar along with the members of Hailakandi district Congress committee led by its president Joynal Uddin Laskar and had a discussion with the people. He also met the Deputy Commissioner of Hailakandi, Keerthi Jalli at her office chamber and requested to constitute a peace committee in order to bring peace among the people.

With the arrest of one more person, the number of arrests has gone up to 19 in regard to mob violence. Hail...
