India, April 8 -- India has become something of a conundrum in the global coronavirus impact scenario. She had been placed on a nationwide lockdown from midnight of March 24 to combat the spread of Covid-19. Now, pointing to the situation in many countries confronted with astronomical number of infections and deaths, and the fact that till date India with her around 1.3 billion population has only around 5,000 recorded cases of infection, government officials are claiming that the lockdown has slowed down the spread of the virus.
