SILCHAR, Jan. 28 -- Along with rest of the nation, the 71st Republic Day was celebrated with reverence in Cachar district.
The main celebration was held at the Police Parade Ground wherein State Minister of Excise, Forest and Fisheries Parimal Suklabaidya hoisted the Tricolour and greeted people on the occasion. He paid tributes to Mahatma Gandhi and soldiers who laid down their lives for the country. Addressing the gathering, Suklabaidya said that the BJP government at the Centre and at the State is making all out efforts to secure Assamese language and culture.
