DIPHU, Sept. 24 -- Fishery Department functioning under Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) has taken a fresh initiative to boost fish production in the hills through self help groups.
The Fishery Department apart from extending various supplementary assistance to private and cooperative units is giving fish seeds to self help groups this time.
Under the new initiative, 150 SHGs of Socheng locality of West Karbi Anglong received substantial numbers of fish seeds of fingerling size. Rupsing Teron, Executive Member of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council, in-charge, Fisheries department was present at the distribution programme as the chief guest.
