PATACHARKUCHI, July 12 -- The entire Bajali subdivision under Barpeta district is reeling under floods as the Pahumara river breached its embankment in two places on Saturday morning ' at Gohinpara and Kalorguri.

Due to incessant rains since Thursday and release of excess water from the Kurishu hydro electric project in Bhutan, the water level of Pahumara river was flowing much above the danger level and breached a huge portion (about 30 metres) at the historic 'Doloi Gosai Than'. The water also submerged around 300 metres of the Pahala-Simlaguri road between Kenduguri and Gohinpara. The road which was under construction was also damaged extensively.
