AIZAWL, Jan. 25 -- A four-day-old infant who was abducted from a civil hospital in Mizoram's southern town Lunglei on Sunday morning has been rescued and safely returned to its mother, Lunglei Police said today.

Lunglei Superintendent of Police Stephen Lalrinawma said today that the baby boy was rescued from a 40-year-old woman from her temporary residence at Farm Veng neighbourhood in Lunglei around 10:30 pm on Sunday.

The woman named Vanlalnghaki, a resident of Tlabung town in Lunglei district, confessed to police that she had abducted the child.

'She has been booked under section 363 IPC,' the police official said. 'The baby hes been returned to its mother,' he added.
