SILCHAR, Sept. 24 -- With two more deaths at the Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH) during the past 24 hours, one from Cachar and the other from Karimganj district, as many as 143 persons have died due to Covid-19 affected comorbid diseases at the hospital, said Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice-Principal of the hospital.
'Out of 143 deaths, as many as 58 cases have been confirmed to be COVID-19 deaths by the Death Audit Board,' Dr Gupta was quoted as saying. He informed that out of 1,04,795 RTPCR tests, as many as 5,065 cases have turned out to be positive and out of 9,088 RAT tests, 916 have been found to be positive so far. After recovery, 1,723 persons have been discharged from the hospital, he added.
