Colombo, Aug. 3 -- "We are confident of winning the election. Our convincing victory with an overwhelming majority has already been predicted by opinion polls conducted both in Sri Lanka and overseas." Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa expressed his confidence at a meeting in Kalutara that the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) would secure a two-thirds majority at the August 5 parliamentary election.

The PM further stated that even with the Covid-19 pandemic situation, he would expect at least a 70% voter turnout.
