New York, Jan. 23 -- While the bitter cold will be felt this weekend, it's the heavy, widespread snowfall that is expected to dominate headlines across New York and New Jersey, CBS News reports.
A winter storm watch has been issued, along with a cold weather advisory in effect for part of the weekend.
The storm system will begin in the Southern Plains on Friday, then move across the South and into the East Coast, bringing plummeting temperatures, heavy snow, ice, and dangerously cold conditions.
Saturday through Monday have been designated as First Alert Weather Days due to the anticipated impact. New Yorkers could see 6 to 12 inches of snow from Sunday into Monday.
