New Delhi, Dec. 16 -- Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson and Rajya Sabha MP Sonia Gandhi on Tuesday urged the Centre to "work closely" with the state governments to fill all vacancies of Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHA) and Anganwadi workers in the country, and also flagged their "meagre" honorariums despite their vital contribution to public service delivery.
Addressing the Upper House of the Parliament during the Zero Hour, Sonia Gandhi urged the government to ensure "timely remuneration" and double the Centre's contribution to these frontline workers.
