Kolkata, Jan. 30 -- West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose paid floral tribute to the statue of Mahatma Gandhi on Thursday, marking his death anniversary. The state's minister, Sobhandeb Chattopadhyay, accompanied the governor.

"This is a day when the Mahatma made supreme sacrifice for this nation. We are inspired by him. This reminds us that we should live by the ideals and principles of Mahatma Gandhi in the future. This nation has a great future because we were given freedom by the sacrifices made by millions under the initiative of Mahatma Gandhi," the Governor said after paying his tributes.
