New Delhi, June 20 -- Union Minister and BJP MP Sukanta Majumdar wrote to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla regarding the attack on him in the Budge Budge area of Diamond Harbour of Kolkata. Majumdar alleged that the attack was carried out by "TMC-backed" criminal mobs.

Sukanta Majumdar alleged that the West Bengal police had not taken any action and were "mute." Taking on 'X', the BJP MP informed about the development and asserted that the West Bengal police failed to take any preventive action despite clear signs of escalating tension.
