Madurai, Feb. 17 -- Union Minister of State of Parliamentary Affairs of India L. Murugan visited Thirupparankundram Murugan Temple on Monday and later climbed the hill to offer prayers at the Kasi Viswanathar Shrine. However, citing security concerns, the police allowed only five people to accompany him, leading to a heated argument.
Questioning the police's authority to impose such restrictions on a Union Minister, Murugan warned of consequences. The brief confrontation created tension in the area before he proceeded with his visit.
