Thiruvananthapuram, March 31 -- Expressing solidarity with the makers of Malayalam film 'Empuraan', Congress MP KC Venugopal on Monday said that those who are irked by the film have a "guilty conscience."
The film is facing the Right-wing backlash for his apparent references to the 2002 Gujarat riot. Venugopal called this a "clear attack on freedom of expression."
"This is a clear attack on freedom of expression. I saw the film; there is nothing to protest against. It is just cinema, and everyone should see it that way," Venugopal told reporters.
"Those who are protesting against it are saying that it is a real thing and not part of cinema. This is the part of people who have a guilty conscience," he added.
