Madurai, April 29 -- The flag hoisting ceremony of the 'Chithirai' festival was held on Tuesday at the Arulmigu Meenakshi Sundaraswarar Temple, also known as the Meenakshi Amman Temple, in Madurai.
According to the Madurai Public Relations Officer, an overwhelming turnout of devotees celebrated the festival grandeur at the temple.
On April 26, the grand annual Chithirai Car Festival, also known as Viruppan Thirunal, was celebrated with great devotion at the Srirangam Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple in Trichy.
Thousands of devotees gathered for the festival were seen chanting "Govinda Govinda" at the Srirangam Temple.
