Madurai, Sept. 7 -- Heavy downpour in Madurai on Sunday led to waterlogging of the main road leading from Avaniyapuram to the airport. The clogged drains in the area turned the road into a pool, causing inconvenience to pedestrians and passengers.
This has resulted in rainwater mixed with sewage entering the Avaniyapuram bus stand and the municipal office, leaving water stagnated up to knee level, causing inconvenience to passengers at the bus stand.
Visuals showed sewage overflowing, leaving barely any space for people to walk.
Earlier this week, several parts of Tamil Nadu received light to moderate rainfall in the 24-hour period ending at 5.30 am on Tuesday, with Namakkal district receiving the highest rainfall.
