Vellore, April 15 -- Multiple families have launched a protest in a village in Tamil Nadu's Vellore district after they received a notice declaring certain areas in Kattukollai as Waqf property. The families have said they have lived in the area for the last three generations and have submitted a petition to the Vellore District Collector to look into the matter.
However, the head of the Masjid in the area, called the Mutawalli administering Waqf properties, has said that the villagers are already aware that the land belongs to the Waqf and that government records show that the land claimed already was of Waqf in 1954.
