New Delhi, Jan. 29 -- SRH Fahmi has been appointed as the next Ambassador of India to Togo, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said on Wednesday.

SRH Fahmi is presently the Director in the Ministry and will take up the assignment shortly, the MEA said.

"Shri S.R.H. Fahmi (YOA: 2008), presently Director in the Ministry, has been appointed as the next Ambassador of India to the Togolese Republic", MEA said in a statement.

It further added, "He is expected to take up the assignment shortly".

India and Togo have cordial bilateral relations. India recognized the Togolese Republic since it attained Independence in 1960.
