New Delhi, Jan. 27 -- The Supreme Court of India on Monday expressed concern over the failure of investigating agencies to file appeals in cases related to the 1984 anti-Sikh riots, despite explicit recommendations from a committee.

The bench also directed the Centre to clarify why all orders of acquittal and dismissal were not challenged in appellate courts.

The Court noted submissions made by Additional Solicitor General (ASG) Aishwarya Bhati, representing the Centre and the Delhi Police, who informed the Court that trials in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots were conducted in a manner that resulted in acquittals rather than convictions.
