Chandigarh, May 13 -- Fifteen people have died and six others have been hospitalized after allegedly consuming spurious liquor in Punjab's Amritsar. The incident has sparked outrage, with state officials taking swift action.

Punjab Minister Harpal Singh Cheema condemned the incident, stating, "Strict action is being taken against the accused. Within 12 hours, five individuals were arrested. Murder charges have been registered against them, and we will ensure they face capital punishment. This is a highly condemnable crime."

The minister further clarified that methanol, which is used in industrial processes, was consumed by the victims.
