Washington, Feb. 1 -- According to research published in the online edition of Neurology, the medical journal of the American Academy of Neurology, people with polycystic ovary syndrome may be more prone to experience memory and cognitive issues in middle age. The study does not establish a link between cognitive deterioration and polycystic ovarian syndrome. It merely displays a correlation.

Polycystic ovary syndrome is a hormonal disorder that is defined by irregular menstruation and elevated levels of a hormone called androgen. Other symptoms may include excess hair growth, acne, infertility and poor metabolic health.
