Pune, Jan. 16 -- The early trends for the recently concluded Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) elections show the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leading in 38 seats in the city, which saw the Pawar family come together to contest together.
While Ajit Pawar's Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and Sharad Pawar-led NCP had allied to contest in the Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad corporation elections, their combined might not have been effective in consolidating the party's vote base, which was split after Ajit Pawar had broken away to ally with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Early trends show NCP leading in 5 seats till now, while Congress has not opened a lead in any of the seats.
