Mumbai, Aug. 19 -- Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar visited the disaster control room at Mantralaya on Tuesday to assess the situation as heavy rainfall continues in Mumbai and other parts of the state, informed the Deputy Chief Minister's office.
Mumbai has been experiencing heavy downpour since Monday morning. The weather department has issued a red and orange alert for several districts of Maharashtra from August 18 to 20.
Earlier today, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) declared a holiday for all government and semi-government offices in Mumbai, while advising private offices to allow employees to work from home, except for those in essential and emergency services.
