New Delhi, Jan. 28 -- A key accused in a Pakistan-led espionage conspiracy case was on Tuesday sentenced to two simple imprisonments for 5.5 years for his involvement in fraudulent use of mobile SIM cards and misuse of social media platforms.

A National Investigation Agency (NIA) special court at Vishakhapatnam announced the judgement naming the accused, Altafhusen Ghanchibhai alias Shakil.

The accused has been sentenced to simple imprisonment for a period of 5 years and 6 months, with a fine of Rs 5,000, under Section 18 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, and to simple imprisonment of 2.5 years, with a fine of Rs 5,000, under Section 66C of the Income Tax Act, 2000.
