Shimla (Himachal Pradesh), Aug. 19 -- : The local Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday said that Himachal Pradesh recorded highest ever rainfall in last 24 hours by breaking the record of last 70 years.

According to the IMD, rains across different places in the state will continue for the next 24 hours.

"Himachal Pradesh has witnessed heavy rainfall in the last 24 hours. Many stations have informed us regarding heavy to very heavy rainfall in many areas across the state. Extremely heavy rains were reported from Shimla, Bilaspur, and Hamirpur. The state has received highest ever, 102 mm of rainfall in last 24 hours," said Manmohan Singh, IMD Director.
