Dhaka, March 17 -- : Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina during a wreath-laying ceremony here on Sunday paid homage to the country's co-founder, also known as 'Bangabondhu' or 'friend of Bengal', Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on his 99th birth anniversary.
Dhaka Tribune reported that events and programmes were held across the country to pay tribute to Rehman.
Following the wreath-laying ceremony, Hasina stood in silence for some time as a mark of respect in memory of the Father of the Nation.
Other senior leaders of the Bangladesh Awami League party, along with Cabinet ministers and parliament members were also present at the event that took place in front of Bangabandhu Memorial Museum, in Dhaka's Dhanmondi.
