Guwahati (Assam), Feb. 4 -- : Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma on Saturday said that the crackdown against child marriages would continue in the coming days.

Speaking to reporters, Biswa informed that till today morning (Saturday), 2211 persons had been arrested in connection with child marriages.

"So far 4074 cases have been registered across Assam related to child marriages while 8134 people have been identified as accused.

Earlier in the day, Assam Police spokesperson Prasanta Kumar Bhuyan said that so far 2,170 people involved in child marriage cases have been arrested in the state.
