Kolkata, April 30 -- West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee expressed deep sorrow over the tragic fire at Hotel Rituraj in Kolkata's Burra Bazar area, which claimed 14 lives, and said that she herself monitored the rescue operation throughout the night and mobilised fire brigade services to the spot.
She further told that combustible materials were stored inside the hotel, which then sparked the fire, causing the death of 14 people. The fire broke out at around 8:30 PM on Tuesday.
In a statement on X, CM Banerjee said, "My heart goes out to the victims of the fire incident that took place at a private hotel (Rituraj) in Burra Bazar area."
