Kamrup, July 16 -- Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers staged a protest on Wednesday against Congress MP and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi during his visit to Assam's Kamrup district.

The protest took place in the Bongaon area, close to where the Congress meeting was held.

Protesters waved placards and shouted slogans targeting Rahul Gandhi, expressing strong opposition to his political presence in the state.

"We never take Rahul Gandhi seriously. Therefore, that era of Congress is over, that family nepotism is over and the Indian political background is of no use to Rahul Gandhi in Indian politics," said the BJP Kamrup District Secretary during the protest.
