Darbhanga, Feb. 8 -- The accused in a minor rape and murder case in Darbhanga was detained, and a request for a speedy court trial has been sent in view of the gravity of the crime, police said.

Public sentiment erupted over the incident as people demanded the accused to be handed over, which the SSP clarified was not within the lines of law, resulting in stone pelting.

Speaking to the media, Darbhanga SSP Jagunath Reddy explained the situation, saying, "As soon as we received information regarding the incident, the administration reached the spot.
