Guwahati, Oct. 6 -- Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday unveiled a welfare scheme called "Shraddhanjali Scheme" under which, in the event of the unfortunate demise of any person from Assam outside the state, the state government upon receiving a complaint, will ensure a dignified return of the deceased back to Assam.
The scheme, approved earlier by the state cabinet, was launched by CM Sarma during an event at Lok Sewa Bhawan. The initiative is designed to provide complete assistance for the respectful and hassle-free transportation of the mortal remains of deceased domiciled residents of Assam who pass away outside the state.
