Guwahati, Nov. 27 -- The Assam Cabinet has approved the report of the Group of Ministers (GoM) in connection with the proposal for the grant of Scheduled Tribe (ST) status to six major communities of the state.
Announcing the Cabinet's decisions, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the state Cabinet has approved the GoM report on the proposal to grant ST status to six major communities of the state, namely Tai Ahom, Chutia, Moran, Motok, Koch-Rajbongshi, and Tea Tribes (Adivasis).
