Guwahati, Dec. 24 -- Following a serious law and order situation that arose in Assam's Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong districts, the Assam government on Tuesday has ordered the suspension of internet and mobile data services in both districts with immediate effect.

The notification stated that voice calls and broadband connectivity via fixed telephone lines shall remain functional during the period; however, any violation of the promulgation would be punishable under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 and also under the relevant provision of the Indian Telegraph Act, 1885
