Guwahati, June 1 -- Severe waterlogging was witnessed in several parts of Guwahati following heavy rainfall in the region on Saturday, disrupting normal life. According to the officials, so far, eight people have died due to floods and landslides in Assam in the last 24 hours. According to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) reports, three people died in floods and five died in landslides.
According to a preliminary report released at 9:00 AM today, urban flooding has affected three districts--Kamrup, Kamrup (Metro), and Cachar--impacting five Revenue Circles and a total of 10,150 people, ASDMA added.
