Udalguri, Sept. 14 -- An earthquake of magnitude 5.8 jolted the Udalguri district in Assam, at 16:41 IST on Sunday, according to the National Centre for Seismology (NCS).

The quake occurred at a depth of 5 km, with its epicentre located at latitude 26.78N and longitude 92.33E, 48 km WNW of Tezpur.

In X post, the NCS stated, "EQ of M: 2.7, On: 14/09/2025 18:11:50 IST, Lat: 26.78 N, Long: 92.26 E, Depth: 5 Km, Location: Udalguri, Assam."

Assam CM said that the authorities are monitoring the situation and there has been no loss of life so far.

In a post on X, Assam CM Sarma shared, "So far, there has been no report of any major damage or loss of life. We are actively monitoring the situation."
