Kabul, Sept. 1 -- An earthquake of magnitude 4.6 struck Afghanistan on Monday, after a series of quakes rattled the region, a statement by the National Center for Seismology (NCS) said.

As per the NCS, the earthquake occurred at a depth of 65km.

In a post on X, the NCS said, "EQ of M: 4.6, On: 01/09/2025 10:31:51 IST, Lat: 34.46 N, Long: 70.62 E, Depth: 65 Km, Location: Afghanistan."

Earlier in the day, External Affairs Minister (EAM) S Jaishankar expressed condolences on the deadly earthquake which struck Afghanistan, killing and injuring hundreds of people. He assured of Indian assistance to Afghanistan in this dark hour.
