New York, Jan. 14 -- Israel's Ambassador to the United Nations Danny Danon on Wednesday welcomed the decision of the UN to convene an emergency debate of the Security Council amid colossal anti-regime protests in Iran.

Danon affirmed his support to the protesters.

In a post on X, he said, "After long days of massacre, violent suppression and thousands of killed and wounded, the UN is planning to convene an emergency debate of the Security Council. While the Ayatollahs regime shoots at protesters and hangs opponents, the international community is dragging its feet. To the Iranian people I say, you are not alone! Your struggle for freedom is stronger than any oppressive regime."
