New Delhi, Sept. 9 -- Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Tuesday congratulated newly elected Vice President CP Radhakrishnan and said that he would play an important role in the country's development.

Speaking to reporters here, the CM said, "This is the beauty of democracy that a person takes a decision in the interest of the country as per his wish. I congratulate CP Radhakrishnan ji for this new responsibility. He will play an important role in taking the country forward. We will all get his guidance."

CP Radhakrishnan was elected as the 15th Vice President on Tuesday, succeeding Jagdeep Dhankhar, who resigned from the post citing health concerns.
