New Delhi, Feb. 14 -- The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) on Friday came down heavily on Bhartiya Janata Party after the President's rule was imposed in Manipur calling it "bankruptcy of the double-engine government."

The Polit Bureau in a statement published on CPI (M)'s official website said, "The imposition of President's Rule in Manipur underlines the utter bankruptcy of the BJP double engine government under whose rule the state has been in violent turmoil for two years."

The party believes that the President's Rule was not imposed in the interest of the people of Manipur but as a strategic move "to buy time to settle the internal conflicts within the ruling coalition."
