New Delhi, June 28 -- Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal on Saturday criticised the West Bengal government, led by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, over the alleged gangrape case in Kolkata, stating that law and order in the state has deteriorated significantly.

He accused the state government of engaging in appeasement politics, which he believes is further exacerbating the situation.

While speaking to the media, Meghwal said, "Law and order has deteriorated in West Bengal. This is further deteriorating due to appeasement politics. You can see the result before you...This is an unfortunate situation for Bengal. This is a taint on Bengal."
