Lucknow, April 6 -- Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Dinesh Sharma on Sunday hailed the Waqf (Amendment) Act, highlighting that the backward classes of the country backed the Bill.

The BJP MP also remarked that political leaders should understand that the Bill was meant to empower Muslims.

Sharma told ANI, "This Bill was supported by the country's backward classes, divorced and widowed women, homeless, Shia, Sunni, Ahmed section of Muslims. The politicians should learn from this that the Bill was for the empowerment of Muslims. This is the victory of all Indians."
