New Delhi, July 3 -- The reactions continued to pour in from the cricketing fraternity, including iconic openers Virender Sehwag and Shikhar Dhawan, as skipper Shubman Gill slammed a historic, marathon double hundred at Birmingham against England on Thursday.

Gill, in an effort that tired out bowlers and statisticians in equal parts, smashed a brilliant 387-ball 269, guiding India to a position of power against England at Birmingham during the second Test, taking India to a total of massive 587 runs.

Taking to his official X handle, Dhawan hailed Gill's knock as "not just a milestone, but a strong message".
