Washington DC, May 19 -- US President Donald Trump on Monday (local time) announced "some progress" in the potential ceasefire negotiations between Russia and Ukraine, following his "two-and-a-half-hour" call with Russian President Vladimir Putin earlier in the day.

Speaking at a signing event of a new legislature at the White House, Trump highlighted the ongoing efforts to secure a ceasefire and end the war between Ukraine and Russia, which he described as a "terrible situation", claiming 5,000 young lives weekly.
