Jaipur, March 21 -- Former Chief Minister of Rajasthan and Congress leader Ashok Gehlot on Friday urged the ruling government not to divide the people on the basis of caste and religion.

"I urge the people who are in power that national interest is the most important...We should not divide the people on the basis of caste and religion...We all should live together with each other in harmony," Gehlot told ANI.

Violent clashes erupted in Nagpur on March 17 over the demand for the removal of Aurangzeb's grave, with stones hurled at police amid rumours that a holy book of a community was burnt during an agitation.
