New Delhi, Feb. 4 -- The Ministry of Electronics and IT has announced that the 'Semicon India Programme' is progressing rapidly, with 10 major projects now officially approved. This initiative, with a total outlay of Rs 76,000 crore, was designed to build a comprehensive ecosystem for chip manufacturing in India.

The scale of these projects is quite remarkable, involving a planned investment of approximately Rs 1.6 lakh crore. The government stated that this includes "2 fabs and 8 packaging units" that will focus on a range of essential technologies.
