New Delhi, Aug. 29 -- Chhattisgarh Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma on Friday slammed the Congress for the alleged derogatory remarks made against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his late mother at an India bloc event in Bihar, saying that Rahul Gandhi should "apologise". He also called the incident an "insult" to the state of Bihar.

While talking to ANI, Sharma said, "It seems that this incident happened with everyone's knowledge. It is an insult to Bihar... Rahul Gandhi should apologise for it."

Earlier, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress workers clashed in Patna over the alleged derogatory remarks during the Congress' Voter Adhikar Yatra in Bihar's Darbhanga on Thursday.
