Thiruvananthapuram, Sept. 28 -- Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala on Sunday expressed deep sorrow over the Karur stampede in Tamil Nadu in which at least 40 people were killed, urging authorities to conduct a thorough inquiry and ensure proper compensation and support for the families of the victims.

Speaking to ANI, "This is a shocking incident, and a proper inquiry should be instituted. For those people who have lost their lives, their families should be helped, and they should be given proper compensation. This incident should not be repeated anywhere in our country... I pay homage to all the people who lost their lives."
