New Delhi, Sept. 4 -- Delhi Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa on Thursday welcomed the GST council's decision to cut Goods and Services Tax (GST) rates, calling it a "big gift" from Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the common people ahead of Diwali.

Speaking to ANI, Manjinder Singh Sirsa said, "I thank the Prime Minister and the GST reforms are historical. Health and life insurance premiums, earlier taxed at 18%, are now exempt."

Sirsa said this reform will provide a significant boost to the nation's economy.
